With Just A Few Weeks Left In Office, Sonoran Governor Delivers Final Report To Congress

With just a few weeks remaining in office, Sonora’s governor has delivered her final performance report to the state Congress.

In a video message to the people she’s governed for the past six years, Gov. Claudia Pavlovich touted what she saw as the main achievements of her administration. Among them, a state highway improvement effort that has eased travel to the vast, rural state’s many small, far-flung communities, school construction, the completion of a specialty hospital and continued investment in the state despite the pandemic.

“In spite of the enormous efforts we’ve made, security and continuing to attend to a pandemic that has not yet ended remain the state’s biggest challenges,” Pavlovich said.

The state is in the middle of its third coronavirus wave, which rivals the previous two in terms of cases and hospitalizations, but is less deadly thanks to vaccinations. Sonora also appears to be on track for another record-breaking year of violence.
