Plan To Restore Land At Shivwits Plateau Near Grand Canyon Finalized

The Bureau of Land Management has finalized a plan to restore thousands of acres in a remote area north of the Grand Canyon.

The BLM wants to thin and replant vegetation on more than 300,000 acres on the Shivwits Plateau.

It plans to do that by targeting 40,000 to 60,000 acres with the highest need.

The agency will work with the Park Service and other groups to improve forest health through prescribed burns and removing invasive plants.

It will also attempt to provide livestock forage and improve mule deer habitat.
