Tucson continues to argue its vaccine requirement for city workers is legal.
In a letter to state Attorney General Mark Brnovich, City Attorney Mike Rankin said the governor’s executive order banning such mandates is “entirely void and meaningless.”
Rankin also pointed out that a new state law, which also bans vaccine requirements, has not yet taken effect and is also the subject of two lawsuits challenging its constitutionality.
The letter comes in response to a complaint from state Sen. Kelly Townsend, who asked the attorney general to look into whether Tucson was violating state law, which could result in the city losing a big chunk of its state-shared revenue.
