The Arizona Department of Economic Security will start distributing $2.5 million to support the Area Agency on Aging. The money was part of its budget allocation.
The agencies provide services to older Arizonans as a way to reduce the need for institutional care.
"Direct care workers are critical to ensure the quality of life for our older adults,” DES Director Michael Wisehart said in a release. “With this funding, we can further support the men and women who have dedicated their lives to this vulnerable population, while also incentivizing more to enter into the field and care for older adults.”
