Thursday was the deadline to submit proposals to redevelop nearly 50 acres in Tempe into a home for a sports team and entertainment district.
Arizona’s National Hockey League club said their bid to the city is in.
Those wanting to build a sports venue near Priest Drive and Rio Salado Parkway had nearly 45 days to submit a bid.
Tempe said it received one and vetting it will likely take months.
An Arizona Coyotes spokesman said the team turned in a proposal. He declined further comment citing the rules of the process for the “extraordinary opportunity.”
The Coyotes face homelessness after the next hockey season as Glendale has said the city will not renew the team’s lease at Gila River Arena.
The polling firm Data Orbital said roughly 48% of Arizona voters oppose using public money to build the Coyotes a new arena.
