In a 4-1 vote, the Pima County Board of Supervisors approved several financial disincentives in order to encourage county employees to get the COVID-19 vaccine.
Expected to start in November, unvaccinated county employees will be required to do weekly COVID-19 testing, their health insurance premiums will go up, and they will be subject to a health insurance surcharge.
At their meeting last month the board had approved incentives for employees to get vaccinated. Since that vote over 4,400 employees have gotten the shot.
The county administrator says 66% of county employees are vaccinated.
