President Biden on Thursday announced several new steps to get Americans vaccinated against COVID-19, including a requirement that many U.S. employers mandate COVID-19 vaccines or regular tests for workers. Gov. Doug Ducey is calling the plan big government overreach.
Ducey and several other Arizona Republican lawmakers were quick to voice their disapproval after the White House’s announcement. In a tweet, Ducey called the plan "dictatorial" and said it would do "more harm than good." He said he would "push back" against the requirements.

Ducey has said he wants Arizonans to get vaccinated for COVID-19 but has said he feels that vaccination is a matter of personal choice. He’s used executive orders to block cities, counties or the state’s public universities from requiring COVID-19 vaccines.
