Health Expert Says Arizona COVID-19 Cases Slightly Leveling Off

It looks like COVID-19 cases are leveling off slightly in Arizona.

Will Humble is the executive director of the Arizona Public Health Association.

“We’re starting to see a trend where it’s no longer increasing week on week but rather stabilizing. Maybe decreasing a little bit, I think it’s a little too early to tell that," Humble said.

He also credits the stabilization partially to the fact that some of the bigger school districts have implemented mitigation measures and universal masking.

But Arizona schools face the possibility of a mask mandate ban that’s scheduled to go into effect on Sept. 29.

A judge is set to hear arguments today in a case seeking to overturn new Arizona laws that restrict the power of local governments and school districts to impose their own protections.
