Maricopa County Board Of Supervisors Appoints Rep. Teran To Fill Vacant Senate Seat

The Maricopa County Board of Supervisors appointed Democratic Rep. Raquel Terán to fill a vacant seat in the Arizona Senate.

Terán replaces former Sen. Tony Navarette, who resigned in August after he was charged with multiple allegations of sexual conduct with minors.

Because Terán was already serving in the House of Representatives, her appointment to the Senate creates yet another vacancy.

County officials must now repeat the same process used to replace Navarette to replace Terán — a citizen panel will nominate three candidates, and one will be chosen by the board of supervisors as the new representative of Legislative District 30, which covers parts of Glendale and Phoenix.
