BBC Look-Ahead: Trudeau Gambles With Snap Election In Canada

Voters are, or will soon be, heading to the polls on two continents.

Those are among the key international stories coming up in the days ahead.

For our weekly look at some of them, The Show spoke with the BBC’s Pete Ross.

The conversation first turned to Canada, where, for the second time in less than two years, voters are selecting a new government.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau called the snap election, saying he wanted voters’ views on the way forward after the pandemic. But critics say Mr. Trudeau called the election to try and win back his party’s parliamentary majority it lost about a year and a half ago.
