In an effort to boost immunization rates, Phoenix is adding vaccines to its COVID-19 testing vans and Tempe has scheduled four more testing and vaccination events through the rest of September.
Phoenix has two vans that have provided approximately 146,000 COVID-19 tests at more than 350 locations across the city. Now, vaccinations have been added to several testing events.
Phoenix is using federal funds so there’s no out of pocket cost for people to be tested or get vaccinated. Nine events with vaccines will be held this month at different libraries, parks and community centers. Details can be found at phoenix.gov/newsroom/em-and-hs/1399.
Tempe’s testing and vaccine events require no registration and will take place at a church and three schools. They are:
ICNA/St. Margaret's Church, 2435 E McArthur Drive
Sept. 23 from 2:30 to 4:30 pm
Laird School, 1500 N. Scovel St.
Sept. 27 from 4 to 6 p.m.
Connolly Middle School, 2002 E. Concorda Drive
Sept. 29 from 4 to 6 p.m.
Scales Technology Academy, 1115 W. Fifth St.
