SRP To Build New Solar Plant In Northwest Of Flagstaff

Salt River Project says it will build a new solar plant northwest of Flagstaff.

SRP has committed to significantly reduce its carbon footprint in a matter of decades.

The utility hopes that nearly 50% of the power it generates will be carbon free by 2025.

The new plant will be up and running by then and will generate enough electricity for 80,000 homes.

“This plant will be located northwest of Flagstaff and will be SRP's largest solar plant on our system,” said Erica Sturwold, a spokeswoman for SRP.

She says that having a variety of energy sources available is critical to reaching sustainability goals.
