Get The Shot And Get Free Admission At Phoenix Sporting Event

Phoenix is offering free admission to a popular sporting event to people who get vaccinated on-site.

The Mexican Winter Baseball League’s version of spring traininghas returned to Arizona. Games will take place in Tucson, Mesa and the west Phoenix area known as Maryvale.

“This event is like no other baseball event, live music, dancing mascots, authentic Mexican food in a family friendly, affordable, and safe outdoor setting,” District 5 Councilwoman Betty Guardado said in a news release. “I encourage residents to attend and get a taste of the spirit of Mexican Baseball.”

Thursday’s game featuring rivals Hermosillo and Obregon kicks off the series at American Family Fields of Phoenix, the spring training home of the Milwaukee Brewers. The Maryvale site will have free COVID-19 testing and vaccinations. Anyone who gets vaccinated at the game will get in for free.

This week, Phoenix announced two other efforts to boost vaccination rates. It added free vaccinations to some locations where its COVID-19 mobile testing vans are scheduled. And, it will launch a pilot program offering up to a thousand gift cards worth $100 each to people in underserved communities who get vaccinated.
