Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport is reporting its passenger numbers are nearing pre-pandemic levels and are up 63% from this time in 2020.
Spokesperson Heather Shelbrack says the airport continues to see a rebound in passenger traffic 16 months after the COVID-19 pandemic began.
“Our numbers for 2021 are only 7% lower than 2019 before the pandemic. So before the COVID-19 pandemic, we welcomed 3.65 million passengers in August. This year we welcomed 3.4 million passengers," Shelbrack said.
Shelbrack said Sky Harbor is also seeing growth in cargo traffic, which has grown 2.2% from 2020.
