Despite Ongoing Title 42 Removals, Asylum Seekers Are Filling Phoenix Shelters

As asylum seekers continue to arrive at the southern border, shelters here in the Valley that serve them are filling up — even as the Biden administration continues to turn away thousands of asylum seekers in the name of a public health measure called Title 42.

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) runs one of those shelters in the Valley — which they call a welcome center — and they say they’ve seen an uptick in need in the last several months.

The Show spoke with Alex Miller, IRC's program director for asylum seekers and families, to learn what she's seeing.
