'Saturday Night Live' pokes fun at Sen. Kyrsten Sinema on season opener

Arizona Sen. Kyrsten Sinema was a topic on "Saturday Night Live’s" 47th season opener.

Cecily Strong donned a blond wig and glasses to portray the senator.

She stole the cold open, shooting down proposals from fellow Dems with a "mean girl" flare.

That’s when Biden, played by James Austin Johnson, asked Sinema what she likes.

"Yellow Starburst, the film 'The Polar Express' and when someone eats fish on an airplane,” Strong said.

That prompted much laughter, as well as a follow-up question: Wouldn’t Sinema prefer to compromise, getting something rather than nothing?

Not exactly.

"Look, as a wine-drinking bisexual triathlete, I know what the average American wants," Strong said. "They want to be put on hold when they call 911, they want bridges that just stop and [their] car falls down. They want water so thick you can eat it with a fork. And I will fight for that no matter what — unless my foot hurts, then I’ll go back to Arizona."

This was not the first time "SNL" poked fun at Sinema, but it’s likely to be the most memorable. For now, anyway.
