Initial results from trials of a new Merck COVID-19 treatment are showing promise, and other, similar pills, could also be on the way.

Some of those trials are happening here in Arizona — the Merck treatment trial is wrapping up, while another antiviral trial involving a Pfizer product is ongoing; data from that one could come out in the spring.

Those are happening at Arizona Clinical Trials, where Dr. Anita Kohli is an infectious disease doctor and director of clinical research.

The Show spoke with her to learn about her role in conducting trials for these new treatments.
