Monkeys being bred in Mesa are getting sick, and, in some cases, dying.

An investigation by the Arizona Republic recently uncovered a spate of deaths among monkeys bred at the University of Washington’s primate breeding facility in Mesa.

The monkey farm is managed by the university for the purpose of providing research subjects for scientists.

The investigation pointed out several problems, including disease and nearby water pollution.

Data and investigative reporter Rob O’Dell wrote the multi-part series on the problems with this program.

The Show spoke with him and asked who owns the facility and why it’s here in the Valley.
