Do 'good guys with guns' actually stop bad guys with guns?

Earlier this month, an Arizona woman was arrested after allegedly shooting someone she thought was shoplifting from a Phoenix convenience store. In January, police arrested a woman who shot two employees of a Phoenix hardware store; she says she was trying to stop two robbery suspects.

These are only two incidents, nearly a year apart, but they raise some questions about the idea of the so-called “good guy with a gun” being able to stop a bad guy with a gun.

It’s a narrative we’ve heard from leaders of the National Rifle Association — known as the NRA — but is it accurate?

To learn about that, The Show spoke with John Donohue, a professor of law at Stanford Law School.
