White House announces pick for U.S. attorney for Arizona

The White House has announced President Joe Biden’s pick to be the top federal prosecutor in Arizona.

The nominee is a longtime assistant U.S. attorney, who helped win convictions against former Arizona Congressman Rick Renzi.

Gary Restaino is Biden’s choice to be U.S. attorney for Arizona.

Restaino has worked for the feds since getting hired nearly 20 years ago by former U.S. Attorney for Arizona Paul Charlton, who said Restaino was known for his trial skills, ethical standards and speaking fluent Spanish.

“What makes Gary a great prosecutor is that politics do not enter into his charging decisions,” said Charlton.

Restaino also has ties to Community Legal Services, a firm that represents the poor in areas such as consumer and employment law.

“I am honored at the trust the President has placed in me, and I look forward to the confirmation process,” said Restaino in a statement.
