Biden administration is in settlement talks with migrant families separated under Trump

The Biden administration is in settlement talks with migrant families who were separated under former President Donald Trump’s zero-tolerance border policy. The talks are a result of class action lawsuits filed by the ACLU and other advocacy organizations against the federal government’s failed policy.

One of the ACLU suits was filed in Arizona in 2019. Plaintiffs include a 7-year-old girl who awakened from a nap to find her father had been seized by border enforcement.

Despite the allegations against Trump’s border enforcement policies, the settlements are raising the ire of immigration hawks and Trump supporters.
