Health expert urges exploring data to determine increase in breakthrough COVID-19 cases

More than 50,000 Arizonans have contracted COVID-19 despite being vaccinated, and officials are saying data should be used to figure out why.

Will Humble is the executive director of the Arizona Public Health Association. He says it would be worth exploring data that could detect problems in the transport of vaccines or with the type of vaccine being administered at specific vaccine sites.

“What is the breakthrough case rate depending on the vaccine that you got and likewise, were there any of the vaccine sites that seem to be producing more breakthrough cases than others?” said Humble.

Humble says there may not be the direct causes, but data could potentially help researchers get closer to finding out why breakthrough cases are increasing.
