U.S. District Judge Steven Logan has ordered the Maricopa County Community College District to accommodate the two nursing students who sued the district over vaccine requirements.
The lawsuit was filed in late October by two nursing students who accused the district of violating their First Amendment rights and religious freedom.
The students cite the fact that fetal cell lines were used in the development of COVID-19 vaccine, although no cells were used to produce the Moderna and Pfizer vaccines.
Maricopa County Colleges spokesperson Matthew Hasson said in a statement: "The district is carefully evaluating Judge Logan’s ruling and considering our options. The Maricopa Community Colleges remain committed to providing high-quality nursing education to all of our students and will continue to work with them in a way that supports their religious beliefs, values, and personal circumstances."
