All but 1 Mexican state now considered low coronavirus risk

Nearly all of Mexico, including neighboring Sonora, is now considered low risk for the coronavirus.

Thirty one of Mexico’s 32 states are now considered green on the federal semáforo — or traffic light — pandemic risk scale. Baja California, which borders Sonora to the west is actually two steps up from green : orange, or high risk.

Nationwide since September, daily confirmed casesand deaths have been steadily falling. The Mexican government saysthat 84% of adults have received at least one dose of a coronavirus vaccine, a slightly higher rate than the CDC reportsfor the United States.

In Sonora, weekly cases and deaths are down substantially from the third wave, though cases are trending upward again, according to federal data trackedby Luis Armando Moreno
