Starting on Friday, Mexican teens from 15- to 17-years-old will be able to pre-register to get their coronavirus vaccines, regardless of their health status. To date, only minors with certain underlying medical conditions have had access.
“Starting at 15, there is an increase in mortality,” said Hugo Lopez-Gatell, head of Mexico’s response to the pandemic, pointing to government data in explaining the step.
Mexico’s vaccination effort for adults has been fairly successful, with roughly 84% of those over 18 having received at least one dose.
