Investigation finds marijuana convictions disproportionately impact people of color

When Arizona voters legalized recreational marijuana with their approval of Proposition 207 last year, it also meant some marijuana convictions would be expunged.

Now, a new investigation from the Arizona Republicfinds cannabis convictions in the state disproportionately impact people of color and that their first conviction on a pot charge often led to other charges, once they were released from prison.

Joseph Jaafari is an investigative reporter at the Republic. The Show spoke with him to learn about his findings.
