With Thanksgiving a week away, many are expecting prices to be up for the holiday shopping. But those prices might not be as high as you expect.
The latest survey by the Arizona Farm Bureau Federation found the cost of a 16-pound turkey will be about $1.20 per pound, compared to 88 cents per pound last year.
But the price of everything else has not increased to the same extent.
The price increase this year is half what 2020 saw, which was a jump of 10%. Disruptions in supply chains from COVID has led to the price of turkey feed to rise.
But whole milk, sweet potatoes and green peas have seen a drop in prices. And the price of stuffing is down by a third.
These prices do not include possible savings customers who have affiliated grocer membership cards have.
