The governor of neighboring Sonora says his administration will work to aid further development of the state’s massive Ford plant, one of the state’s most important private employers.
“We agreed … to continue working together to facilitate Ford’s production,” said Governor Alfonso Durazo, after meeting with a top Ford executive.
Durazo cited major infrastructure projects that would represent steps toward that goal, like major proposed improvements to the port in coastal Guaymas.
The factory now produces the Bronco Sport and the Maverick pickup.
Amid global supply chain issues in recent months, the plant has had to slow or halt production several times. But in September and October, more than 18,000 units rolled off the lines, according to the most recent federal data.
