Arizona gas prices higher than national average

A gallon of gas in Arizona on average costs $3.75. That is almost 40 cents higher per gallon than the national average.

But a week after President Biden released supplies from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve, crude oil prices have dropped this week.

Still AAA Arizona spokesperson Aldo Vazquez says that may not last long.

“Lower oil prices should translate to better prices at the pump, but until the global oil production ramps back up to pre-pandemic levels, this recent dip in the price may only be temporary," Vazquez said.

State-gas prices now are about a $1.50 higher than a year ago when they were averaging at about $2.20 per gallon.
