Here's when experts expect the omicron variant to take hold in Arizona

Arizona reported 1,961 cases and one death from COVID-19 Nov. 29, which are lower numbers than were seen over the four-day holiday weekend. Over that period, there were nearly 13,000 cases and 131 deaths.

The holidays have, in the past, shown a spike in cases and hospitalizations which health experts are keeping an eye on again this time around — all while mixing in yet another new coronavirus variant. This one is called omicron.

Dr. Joe Gerald is with the University of Arizona's Zuckerman College of Public Health.

The Show spoke with him to learn what we can expect with the state’s current situation.
