Little Free Library this month launched a new initiative in Phoenix to get more diverse books into more neighborhoods.
The Read in Color initiative aims to get 2,000 books promoting inclusion, equity and understanding into the little libraries, including 10 new ones that’ll be put up in Valley neighborhoods.
You’ve probably seen a Little Free Library — they’re boxes filled with books and are in front of houses, businesses and other places, both here in Arizona and across the world.
To learn about this new project, The Show spoke with Jake Adams, chief development officer with Southwest Human Development, a nonprofit that does a lot of work on early literacy in kids up to 5 years old. Adams is also on the board of directors of the national Little Free Library nonprofit.
