Although temperatures throughout Arizona have been unseasonably warm, Grand Canyon National Park is getting ready to close the North Rim for the winter.
The park will shut down State Route 67, which takes visitors to the main entrance, until mid May.
Some North Rim overlooks may be accessible on Forest Service roads, but there are no services.
The park recommends that travelers use caution while driving and have supplies such as blankets, flashlights and snacks in their vehicles.
Meanwhile, the South Rim will shut down the Hermit Road bus route and allow visitors to drive their vehicles.
The changes take effect starting Wednesday.
