Arizona health officials reported just under 4,000 new COVID-19 cases Sunday, as case numbers continue to surge.
The state health department reported an additional 3,820 new cases and 28 new deaths.
Friday and Saturday’s new case totals both exceeded 5,000, marking the first time since January that 5,000 cases have been reported on two consecutive days.
The state’s COVID-19 dashboard showed 2,697 COVID-19 patients occupied hospital inpatient beds as of Friday, with 95% of hospital inpatient beds full throughout the state.
Just under 55% of Arizona’s population has been fully vaccinated, placing the state 29th in that metric.
