Brake issues are behind a major safety recall of 10s of thousands of Ford Bronco Sports, manufactured in neighboring Sonora.
The brake lining in roughly 115,000 recently manufactured Ford Bronco Sport and Escape SUVs may have been improperly manufactured. In an early December letterto the company, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said that the issue could increase the distance required to stop and raise “the risk of a crash.”
The recallapplies to roughly 65,000 Sports built in Hermosillo, a substantial portionof those manufactured at the company’s massive facility there to date.
Ford intends to reach out to owners of the recalled vehicles in January with information about fixing the issue, according to a reportin Car and Driver. Owners of the two models can go to the NHTSA websiteto check if their cars were among those recalled.
