We are in that time of year when families and friends are getting together to celebrate the holidays. But those gatherings can go sideways really quickly when there are differences of opinion on issues that are important to people — especially when it comes to politics.
So what are the best ways to try to navigate our increasingly polarized society while still enjoying each other’s company?
Keith Allred is executive director at the National Institute for Civil Discourse at the University of Arizona.
The Show spoke with him to learn the answer to that question, and whether his job has become more difficult in today's current political climate than in the past.
