The Arizona Department of Transportation is upholding a longstanding tradition of no full highway closures during the week of Christmas.
ADOT spokesperson Doug Nintzel says the department wants to help people get to their holiday destinations.
“Starting with the Christmas weekend, between then and New Year’s and into the New Year’s weekend, we won’t have any closures along the highways, we do want to focus on the movement of traffic, letting people get to where they need to go for the holidays,” says Nintzel.
Nintzel says accidents or inclement weather could change those plans, but as of right now, no construction is planned on any Arizona highway starting Saturday.
