Arizona Redistricting commissioners make final appeals for districts in their favor

The Arizona Independent Redistricting Commission (IRC) will meet again Dec. 21 and 22 before finalizing congressional and legislative lines that will remain in place for the next 10 years.

At the Dec. 20 marathon hearing, the commissioners made a huge dent in population balancing the districts while also making last ditch efforts to get specific partisan leanings in certain areas.

All eyes are still on Tucson, which will likely be the final line drawn, but all areas are going through mostly minor alterations as the two Republicans and two Democrats on the IRC are hoping to appeal to independent chairwoman Erika Neuberg who ultimately gets the final say.

To learn what we can expect over the next two days, The Show spoke with KJZZ’s Dillon Rosenblatt.
