New numbers from Glendale show the Arizona Coyotes were more than $2 million behind on bills when the city threatened to evict the hockey team from its arena.
Glendale said the Coyotes have met a deadline to pay all taxes and back rent.
Glendale said the Coyotes have paid more than $900,000 in rent to the company the city pays to manage Gila River Arena.
Add roughly $1.3 million in state and city taxes, and the National Hockey League franchise owed more than $2.2 million when Glendale threatened eviction about two weeks ago.
The Coyotes next home game is scheduled for Dec. 27, as long as the NHL does not extend a pause of its season due to a spike in COVID-19 infections.
Glendale has told the Coyotes to find a new home for next season because city officials think the arena can generate more revenue without the team.
