This year, the city of Phoenix designated more than $100 million for emergency rental assistance.
In February, the City Council approved $51.1 million in federal coronavirus relief funds to help renters in need. The city’s human services department said 99% of the funds from the Consolidated Appropriations Act has been distributed, with the average household getting $7,600.
The city’s dashboard shows a total of 7,779 households have received assistance.
As a result of the American Rescue Plan Act, the U.S. Treasury allocated $55.3 million to Phoenix. So far, the city has received $22 million and began disbursement in October. When Phoenix has disbursed 75% of the funds, the city will request the rest. More than 4,000 online applications for financial relief are waiting to be processed.
