One of President Joe Biden’s goals has been to combat climate change. But some conservationists are disappointed with his efforts so far.
Although the Biden administration has said it's committed to renewable energy, the number of oil and gas wells permitted on public lands has increased under his watch.
Industry analysts say that Biden is walking a fine political line, trying to balance the economic needs of oil- and gas-producing states and climate change policy.
Kyle Tisdel of the Western Environmental Law Center says time is running out for solutions to the problem of global warming.
"Leaving that timeline up to sort of market factors alone I think is a profound miscalculation,” Tisdel said.
He says that a quarter of emissions from oil, gas and coal come from public lands.
