More than 50 Sky Harbor flights have been canceled over Christmas weekend

Christmas Eve and Christmas Day flights across the country have been delayed or even cancelled, due to the spread of then Covid-19 omicron variant.

Sky Harbor has had 57 cancellations and 66 delays for flights spanning from Christmas Eve to December 26.

United Airlines announced Thursday that it was preemptively cancelling flights due to a surge in Covid-19 cases, including almost 200 flights nationally for Christmas Eve.

Delta Airlines canceled nearly 150 flights Christmas Eve. A majority of canceled flights to and from Sky Harbor this weekend are from Delta, United, and American Airlines.

Flights are also being preemptively canceled for Sunday, with about 200 flights being canceled nationwide, with more expected.
