A businessman's unlikely path to directing his own rom-com in Gilbert

The new Thanksgiving movie, “Funny Thing About Love” wasn’t actually filmed in November. But January in the Valley looks pretty close.

The rom-com was filmed in Gilbert last winter — at the height of the pandemic — in just 12 days. Writer and director Adam White lives in Gilbert as well, so the location was also a bit of an homage to his hometown.

It stars some familiar faces — John Heder of “Napoleon Dynamite” fame; Jason Gray from “Studio C”; and Arizona-native and “American Idol” alum Brooke White.

Adam White took a long road to filmmaking and now focuses on family-friendly movies.

The Show spoke with him, and he said it all began with his big brother.
