The Arizona Department of Health Services reports flu cases are on the rise in Arizona.
There have been nearly 700 confirmed influenza-like illnesses in the past week alone. The number of reported flu cases more than doubled for the week ending Dec. 25 compared to the same period a year ago.
This flu season has seen nearly 2,000 cases so far, compared to a total of 550 for the entire season last year.
Arizona’s flu season tends to lag the rest of the country’s. Last year was considered a mild flu season because many people were wearing masks throughout the country to protect themselves against the spread of COVID-19.
