A federal judge rules against the Biden vaccine mandate for Head Start workers

President Joe Biden cannot require teachers in the Head Start early education program to be vaccinated against COVID-19 — so says a federal judge.

Invoking the words of former President Ronald Reagan, “I’m from the government and I’m here to help,” U.S. District Judge Terry Doughty in a Saturday ruling handed a victory to Arizona and 23 other states who sued the federal government over the mandate.

The judge wrote that the Biden administration unlawfully bypassed Congress when ordering Head Start program workers be vaccinated by Jan. 31 and that students 2 years or older be masked when indoors or when in close contact outdoors.

Doughty, a Trump nominee, also indicated in his decision if the Biden rule were allowed, the U.S. would effectively be “a monarchy.”
