Portions of I-10 in Buckeye will be reduced to 1 lane on weekends

The Arizona Department of Transportation will be reducing traffic on parts of the I-10 in Buckeye as it works to expand the highway from two lanes to three.

Though workers have been there since July, traffic reduction will be night and weekends between Verrado Way and State Route 85 until March.

“It’s going to be 9 p.m. on Fridays to 5 a.m. on Mondays for work on the widening project and this is because crews are starting a shift on traffic where they are moving in one part of this project to newly paved lanes," said Doug Nintzel of ADOT.

Nintzel added since they will be reducing traffic down to one lane in each direction on weekends, it could lead to slow downs in traffic. He added travelers should plan with slow downs in mind.
