TSA closes 2 security checkpoints at Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport amid staffing problems

COVID-19 is causing struggles for Transportation Security Administration staff at Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport, leading to the closure of two checkpoints on Friday morning.

According to a TSA spokesperson, TSA had to consolidate checkpoints B and D in Terminal 4.

A and C are still open, but an airport spokeswoman says wait times could be up to 30 minutes for non-PreCheck passengers in Terminal 4. The spokesperson says Terminal 3 is not having checkpoint closures, and it doesn't expect them at this time.

Sky Harbor Airport says the consolidation will be in effect until further notice.

Travelers are reminded that no prohibited items should be packed in carryon bags, which can slow down lines.

The  security wait times can be checked on Sky Harbor’s website and in the airport terminals.
