Arizona was at the center of the battle for the White House in November of 2020, and it continued to be even at the end of 2021 thanks to the so-called audit of Maricopa County ballots.
The attempts to influence, or even change, the outcome of the presidential election were focused on half a dozen states with relatively close margins, and those that former President Donald Trump had carried in 2016 but failed to in 2020.
In the new book, "The Steal: The Attempt to Overturn the 2020 Election and the People Who Stopped It," Mark Bowden and his co-author Matthew Teague write about leaders in states including Arizona, Georgia and Michigan who were attacked by partisans but ultimately held their ground in confirming accurate election results.
The Show spoke with Bowden to learn about the work.
