ADOT looks to complete 1st portion of I-10 Broadway Curve project by the end of 2022

The state transportation department’s I-10 Broadway Curve Improvement Project is slated to finish in 2024 — except for a portion that’s expected to be finished by the end of this year.

ADOT is warning commuters to expect an uptick in construction activity between Baseline Road and Chandler Boulevard to start this year, as the department works to add lanes to the busy stretch of freeway by the end of 2022.

Marcy McMacken is with ADOT. She says that early in development, the department slated this portion to be finished first.

“Completing this stretch of I-10 two years before the remainder of the project is one way ADOT is striving to reduce those impacts for at least some motorists in the 11-mile project area,” said McMacken.

McMacken says crews will work on this stretch of I-10 behind concrete barriers, which should limit the need for restrictions and closures.

ADOT confirmed supply chain issues are not impacting this portion of the project or the project as a whole.
