As more than a year has passed, writers and researchers of many interests and disciplines have tried to explore why it happened and who the participants were.

One scholar, Arizona State University lecturer Terry Shoemaker, a sserts there is a deep connection between what happened between the U.S. and the the former Soviet Union over the decades of the Cold War and the enthusiasm of at least some of the Jan. 6 participants.
