As cases soar, Sonoran health officials call for 'rational' use of tests

With new case records being regularly set, Sonoran health officials are  callingfor more limited use of tests.

Pointing to recent guidance from the Pan American and World Health Organizations, Sonoran Health Department Subsecretary Dr. Gabriela Nucamendi said that certain groups would be prioritized for testing.

Among them are patients who need hospitalization, those with health conditions that make serious illness more likely, health professionals and those who work in essential sectors.

The call comes as cases are soaring in the state, with now two days of more than 1,000 cases confirmed back to back, according to  datatracked by Sonoran data analyst Luis Armando Moreno.
